WOLKEN

So unschuldig, so leicht und weiß,
fliegen sie dahin.
In Gedanken verloren,
starren blinde Augen zum Himmel.

Plötzlich springt das Herz,
als eine Formation sich verschiebt.
Die Hoffnung steigt, und Gestalt nimmt an,
auf was ich unwissend gewartet.
Der Puls schlägt jetzt schnell,
die himmlische Kraft - schafft.

Das Bild zerreißt, ohne Vollendung, ohne Gnade.
Weiße Fetzen treiben dahin.
Die Form aber, die Hohle, sie bleibt - und sehnt fortan.
Mein altes Ich - das haben die Wolken genommen.
Das neue ist - verletzlich, erwartungsvoll - gewonnen.

POEM OF THE ATOMS (song)

O day, arise! Shine your light, the atoms are dancing.

Thanks to Him the universe is dancing, the souls are dancing,
overcome with ecstasy, free from body and mind

I'll whipser in your ear where their dance is leading them.
All the atoms in the air and in the desert are dancing,
puzzled and bemused, to the ray of light,
they seem insane.

All these atoms are not so different than we are,
happy or miserable, perplexed and bewildered.

Every single atom becomes enamored of the sun,
of which nothing can be said.

[Around 450 B.C., the Greek philosopher Democritus introduced the idea of the atom. However, the idea was essentially forgotten for more than 2000 years. In 1800, John Dalton re-introduced the atom. He provided evidence for atoms and developed atomic theory. At the dawn of the 20th century, Max Planck and Albert Einstein turned physics on its ear by introducing the notion of quanta. Einstein's paper of 1905 dealt with the particle nature of light, but didn't call the particles photons.]
