We were a bit unsure how to cover a long weekend starting from Vienna, and only after researching other options we turned to the easiest: Go to Bratislava and start a brief crossing of Slovakia. It turned out such a rich experience. In only 4 days we visited a gold mine, experienced the longest love poem ever written, wandered a mystical botanical garden, were amazed by different castles, hiked fine nature in the High Tatra, visited the best cocktail bar and ate unexpectedly good seafood in Kosice, watched probably the planet's biggest water fountain ballet, walked around a church built completely from wood and had some nice original Slovakian dishes and Kofola.
